Seven Lives Tacos y Mariscos, located at 72 Kensington Avenue in Toronto’s bustling Kensington Market, is famed for its authentic Baja-style tacos. The small menu focuses mainly on seafood, with standout items like the Gobernador taco featuring smoked tuna and shrimp, and the Camarones a la Diabla taco with shrimp and poblano peppers in a spicy sauce. The ceviche and daily aguas frescas are also popular choices.

a month agoAmazing spot in Kensington Market! I absolutely loved Seven Life — the place, the vibe, the service — everything was top notch. I had never tried gourmet tacos before, and this was a game changer. The seafood was incredible. I ordered the ceviche along with the fish and shrimp tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. The nachos were the highlight for me — definitely my top recommendation, especially with all their spicy and non-spicy sauces (they’re all fantastic!). I will definitely be coming back.

a month agoJuly 2025: Visited after work around 5:40 and ordered the first 4 on the menu (Gobernador, Baja Fish, Camarones a la Diabla, and Guajillo Snapper) which were all quite tasty! We enjoyed the Camarones a la Diabla (delicious sauce, but very messy), and the Gobernador the best. Taco's aren't my go-to food, but I enjoyed them. We shared all four, which was good variety. Store has high-top tables only with no seats, but there are bag hooks. Music/playlist was a nice 2000s/2010s throwback. 4.5/5.0 rounded down.

a week agoThe carnitas tacos are absolutely amazing. Would visit again. Edit: tried the baja fish. Pretty good too. Price: $7 for one taco (they give two shells; sauces are self-serve)

3 weeks agoWe visited seven lives tacos for the first time this weekend in Kensington. The lineup was huge, and they only have standing areas—probably to keep turnover high—so there’s no chance to sit and eat inside, just stand and go. The tacos themselves are really delicious, but the way the sauces were listed was confusing. We couldn’t tell which ones were hot, and ended up with a super spicy sauce that overwhelmed our tacos. Clearer labeling would really help. One downside is that they don’t serve beer or margaritas—just soft drinks like Coke and Fanta. I think tacos pair better with a beer or cocktail. Overall, tasty tacos, but a few improvements could make the experience much better.

a month agoThe tacos were made fresh to order and tasted very authentic. The fried fish taco was recommended and it was well made. The fish was battered with light and crispy batter, well seasoned, and paired well with the sauce. The chicken taco was also tasty. The portion size was quite big, and the tacos were slightly hard to eat as there was so much filling. There are salsas and sauce that you can add to your liking. Would definitely stop by if in the area!
