a month agoThis gym has a serious problem with unprofessionalism, from trainers who take advantage of clients financially to others who cancel last minute or engage in inappropriate behavior. And there is no real accountability from management. Despite raising concerns, the gym’s response felt more like an attempt to make complaints go away rather than actually addressing the issues. One of the biggest red flags is that a trainer who financially took advantage of client, a fact that was proven with evidence, was not only allowed to continue working there but was actually promoted to assistant manager. This is despite this individual having the least amount of working experience compared to others on the team. It is a blatant disregard for ethical standards and client trust showing that this gym prioritizes money over integrity. The gym itself is also poorly maintained. Ever since construction started, there haven’t been many mirrors to check form, equipment is constantly moved around, and space is extremely limited. The gym feels dark due to no natural light and there is not enough functional space to get a good workout in. It no longer feels like a functional or worthwhile gym. If you’re looking for quality training and a better gym environment, I’d recommend going to another location which is not too far away and way better. The only positive thing here is the friendly woman at the front desk, but beyond that, it’s not worth the stress or the money. And if you are considering signing up for personal training here, be very careful and check your account because these trainers (Ava especially) will overcharge your account or tell lies that you cancelled sessions just to claim more money or they will act inappropriate & have really poor boundaries. I would strongly advise you to be cautious or look elsewhere.

in the last weekVery crowded location whether you go in the morning or evening since it's on one of the main intersections and subway stops. It's clean and well-organized. My issue is with some of the staff. Some teenage kids on staff are at the desk and don't give a damn as it seems like they are part-time and just don't care what they do there. Arrogant and feels racist having no manners of talking. Don't mind some of them like Sasha are great too but others need training or need to learn discipline to treat people well no matter where they come from.

a month agoGoodLife Yonge & St. Clair is hands down the worst gym I’ve ever been to. From a toxic environment to incompetent management, this place is a disaster. If you’re thinking about joining, don’t waste your money. Since July 2024, I’ve dealt with repeated harassment from front desk worker Matthew, who went out of his way to target me twice after an initial confrontation. That first incident? He yelled at me to use another machine while he and another employee stood around talking—interrupting a woman’s workout and making people wait nearly an hour. Instead of managing the gym properly, he singled me out and made it his mission to find anything he could to build a case against me out of spite. GoodLife instructed me to avoid him, but I had already been trying—and he still found ways to harass me. Despite this clear pattern of misconduct, GoodLife took no action against him. Instead, they ignored my concerns and let the harassment continue. Manager Shannon outright lied about calling and leaving voicemails. When I proved with phone records that these calls never happened, she went radio silent—no response, no accountability. GoodLife claims they conducted an internal investigation, yet all their “witness statements” conveniently align with their own staff’s version of events. They refuse to acknowledge the clear contradiction: -If I was wrong, I’d be banned. -If Matthew was wrong, they should have taken action. -Instead, they did neither—burying the issue and leaving me to deal with ongoing harassment. Beyond the toxic environment, this gym itself is a joke. It’s in a dark, deep basement that feels more like a dungeon than a workout space. Water drips from the ceiling, it’s always under construction, and the entire place feels grimy and depressing. It’s a perfect metaphor for how the gym is run—a broken-down mess with no real fixes, just excuses. If you want a gym where staff can harass you without consequences, management can lie to your face, and the entire place feels like it’s falling apart, then GoodLife Yonge & St. Clair is for you. Otherwise, go anywhere else. If you want more details on the three separate incidents of targeted harassment, I’m more than happy to provide them—because the pettiness and hostility here are beyond unprofessional. It creates an incredibly unsettling environment, and no one should have to deal with this at a gym.

4 months agoThis GoodLife Fitness location is excellent. It’s very well organized and it features a friendly and supportive atmosphere. All the staff members are welcoming, accommodating, and very nice to deal with. Gustavo has been my personal trainer for the past three months and has been amazing. With his extensive experience in physiotherapy, CrossFit, and muscle building, Gustavo offered me a rich, exciting, and stimulating training program that substantially improved my fitness level. The experience has been superb. At 58, under Gustavo’s guidance, I have seen a marked growth in my physical strength and stability. Thank you, Gustavo!
