Couldn't be happier with my experience at EMA. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and the curriculum is both challenging and accessible. I particularly enjoyed the Muay Thai and can't recommend it enough. The owner, Dan, is awesome and was kind enough to update my membership to accommodate a last minute move. If you're in the area make sure to check out EMA.

I started at Elite Martial Arts as a complete beginner and never imagined I’d progress so much in Muay Thai and Krav Maga. The instructors here are truly some of the best: highly skilled, supportive, and focused on technique, safety, and progression. Whether you're just starting or more advanced, you’ll get the guidance you need. Even in busy classes, they make sure everyone gets personal attention. As a woman, I’ve always felt welcomed and empowered. The women’s self-defence program teaches practical skills from day one, and I love that EMA’s schedule offers women-only classes multiple times a week, which is something you don’t see at most martial arts schools in Toronto. The gym is spotless and the training gear is well-maintained and regularly updated. Dan, the owner, is approachable, encouraging, and truly cares about building a welcoming, ego-free environment. He also regularly brings in top instructors in the industry for special seminars and organizes fun socials that strengthen the community outside of the training. If you’re looking for the best martial arts school in Toronto for Krav Maga, Muay Thai, or self-defence: Elite Martial Arts is the place to be!

I am a newcomer to this studio but not to Krav, having trained for close to 20 years. From the first email I sent asking for information to the fabulous instructors, not only have I been so so thrilled to be back training the style that I am used to, I have been welcomed with open arms. The class was well structured and built to have the practical outcome this martial arts is known for. Very very grateful for Dan, Jeff and Matt!

Experience Overview My brief period here was nothing short of fantastic, thanks to the enriching Women's Beginner Krav Maga course. I was allow to attend one free class in the beginning to ensure that it was the right fit for me and that is a fantastic process to have. The instructors, led by the exemplary Dan Novak, were not just experts in their field but also genuinely passionate about teaching and ensuring the safety and progress of every student. Their patience, clarity in explanation, personalized corrections, and occasional humor made each class an enjoyable and unique experience. The curriculum was well-structured, offering insights into a variety of self-defense scenarios while also ensuring a vigorous workout. The school holds regular belt testing, and tournaments for you to participate or observe. There are also events, which adds to the community building. Facilities Insight The martial arts center shares its amenities with Pure Life Fitness, where additional services like locker rentals are available. The staff at both establishments are welcoming and helpful, adding to the overall positive environment. Access to the facilities requires the use of a specific app, ensuring security and ease of entry. The Elite Martial Arts area itself boasts a spacious practice environment. A note on cleanliness: while a no-outdoor-shoes policy is stated, adherence seems lax, leading to occasional floor debris. This minor issue aside, the space is well-maintained and conducive to learning. It is also in One York Building, where there is food and shops within. It is also quite close to the TTC. (Note: I would love it if they got a different timer, it goes off 10 seconds to early, haha) Important Note A personal oversight worth mentioning for the benefit of others: the membership transitions to a month-to-month plan after the initial period concludes. Opting out requires a 60-day written notice. This detail, while entirely my responsibility, is something future attendees might want to keep in mind to manage their commitments effectively. Overall, I recommend this school for anyone looking to learn self defense or just get a good workout! Kudos to all the staff there.

Had never done Muay Thai in my life and this was an incredible experience. It pushes you mentally and physically, the instructors are tough but very accommodating. Great space and great atmosphere. Compared to other muay thai schools in the area, EMA has the best rates and you can purchase equipment from them at an affordable price.
